   Monk is the second most recorded composer in jazz (after Duke Ellington - even more remarkable given that Ellington composed about tunes to Monk's odd) and most of those covers are of tunes that he first recorded for Blue Note, most notably 'Round Midnight itself, which is the most recorded jazz standard composed by a jazz musician/5(13).

These singles were then compiled in later years—with additional performances from the sessions—into long-playing album formats.
